Open Shelving in the Kitchen

Hello everyone!

I mentioned on Instagram that I was planning on changing up my display area in my kitchen.  I used to have a white bookcase with just a few shelves to store and display some white serving pieces.  Now, I have this extra large weathered wood with black metal shelving unit.  I love the contrast of the white dishes against the brown wood. Here is what it looked like right after the unit was assembled.

These pictures are a little dark because I took them at night. Here is what it looks like with the serving pieces on it.

This shelving unit came from Target and is basically a Restoration Hardware knock-off.  It was much less expensive and gave me the look I wanted.

Here is a daytime pic.

My old white bookcase was donated, so hopefully it will find a new home. I think this shelving unit ties in better with my light fixture and table.

On another note, I'm very excited to be getting our chandelier replaced in the foyer.  An electrician is coming out today to install it since it will hang in our 20 ft high foyer.  There was no way that we would attempt that ourselves!  I'll be sure to share that with you soon.

Hope you all have a great Monday!

It looks great Kelly! Do you have place for another one flanking the other side of the window? I love the symmetry when these bookcases are used.
It is perfect!

When I saw this on IG, I thought "Restoration Hardware" so yes, it's a great knock off! I love that line at Target. You've styled it beautifully too.

It looks great kelly, and I love the white on dark effect as well. It is perfect in that spot, and like Ron, I'm wondering if you can add another one?

The new shelf looks great and it's displayed so pretty. You're right, it looks like something you'd find in Restoration Hardware. Looking forward to seeing the new chandelier

I've been thinking about doing this in my kitchen area. Love it Kelly! I think that Hobby Lobby might even have a similar piece. Great job.
