Old World Lighting

Hello everyone!

The weekend sure did fly by.  I can't believe it's already Monday!  I'm still working on my master bathroom post to share with you, but in the meantime, I wanted to share some new lights that I hung in my house.

If you don't know this already, I'm a HUGE lighting lover!  I feel it is one of the most important style makers in your house.  Cheap looking lighting can ruin your whole house.  It sets the tone for the rooms and is one of the first things people see when they walk into your home.  I love how lighting can change the mood of a room at night based on where you place it and the wattage of the light bulbs being used.

I decided to change out the light fixture in my front sitting room.  I wanted something a bit more substantial and I wanted it more in keeping with the other changes that I've made in my home lately. So, I found this light fixture being offered from Decor Steals.  I checked the measurements of it and decided it should work.

It is now one of my favorite lights!  It has an old world look to it and fits in well with the french farmhouse style that I like. I have it on a dimmer switch so I can control the brightness of it.

I hung another light on the wall in my foyer. This light was ordered from Antique Farmhouse and it just plugs in the wall.

I love the burlap shade and the unique shape of the base.

Here is a look at it in the foyer as a whole.

I don't mind the cord hanging down.  I suppose we could get it hardwired into the wall if we wanted to.

Both of these lights are from Park Hill.  Lately, I've purchased a lot of their products.  I really like that company!

I recently got a new lantern light for my kitchen that hangs over my kitchen table so I will share that with you soon. You can see it on my Instagram page now though.

I've been on a furniture and lighting makeover kick lately.  I guess because I've had these things for such a long time now.  It's fun changing out the old for the new.

Hope you have a great week ahead!

Love them both Kelly! Our house will come with builder grade lighting, but we are already purchasing a few lights to change out and once we move in we will change out all of them and donate the builder grade ones to Habitat.

I love them both, also. I have been eyeing that wall light from Antique Farmhouse for a while, but was afraid it would be too big for where I was thinking of placing it. I just love it, and love where you placed it! I'm going to go measure my entry right now!

Love the new light in the front room. Very nice. You can get a cord cover for the cord on the wall. I think I ordered mine from Amazon or somewhere.

That is almost identical to the light I have in our master bath..and I love it. It is perfect in your front room...and I like your hallway 'sconce', too. Hope you have a great week- xo Diana

The lights are lovely. I really like the one in the front room. Even though it is in an old world style it is modern looking.

You have excellent taste in light fixtures, Kelly, and I think we like the same things. There are so many cool lights, pendants and lamps out there, its hard to make a decision. At least for me. Keep it up...your home is beautiful!

Your lighting is gorgeous! Love the old world look. Good call on the dimmer switch too. I love having the option to dim or brighten an area. Isn't it so much fun to update our homes? :) I'm totally going to have to check out that Park Hill website now too...

I really like the idea of this lighting. I wish we could get such lighting at our offices as well. But I think unfortunately, we might not be able to that at least in this century.
